U15s Victorious in Vitality Cup

Posted:
20th May 2021

On Wednesday evening our U15s played into the dark to complete a comprehensive win over a decent Sentinel CC Team.

Sentinel won the toss and elected to bat; their opening pair made a steady start, however, once that partnership was broken for 35, wickets fell at regular intervals.  Tight bowling and good fielding restricted Sentinel to 101 for 9 off the 20 overs.  There was a real sense of team spirit in the field with plenty of encouragement and fun apparent.  Perhaps some work on field positions and ‘getting round’ between overs wouldn’t go amiss.

Overs and wickets were shared across the team with many notable performances; Aris and Rowan leading the way with 2 wickets a piece.  Jake and Bryan pulled of a couple of tight run outs, with Will snaffling a couple of catches behind the stumps as well. In honesty all the bowlers should get a mention here as everyone contributed well.

As the shadows lengthened our innings started and started with a couple of early wickets. At 23 for 2 Sentinel were well in the game but that was short lived as Isaac and Finn batted with skill, gusto, and some luck.  Their partnership was eventually broken on 98, well after the sun had set behind Lyth Hill, and fittingly Isaac hit the winning runs to carry his bat through the innings.

It was a great performance and one the team should be proud of, I can assure them the Club are proud.

Thanks to Sentinel CC for the match and had they had the luck with the ball going to hand, things could have been very different.  A good match, played in good spirit, well done all.  It’s nice to be back!
