We are holding our end of season awards ceremony on Saturday 18th September at the Club. The junior presentation will start at 5pm. Pizza and Chips courtesy of the Tankerville Arms will be available from 6pm, followed by the senior ceremony.
The First XI are playing their last game of the season at home that afternoon, so please come down to support them.
After a few seasons off, we are pleased to announce the return of our summer camp. We plan to run six sessions on Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18, Thursday 19, Tuesday 24, Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 August. Sessions will be led by Charlie Rogers, who as you probably know is an ECB accredited coach.
Each session will start at 10.30 and end around 3.30. The mornings will focus on developing skills, whilst the afternoons will be different types of games to apply those skills. This will be hard ball coaching so is restricted to children aged 13 and above. Please ensure your child/ren bring their kit, food, drinks and sunscreen.
Each session will cost £15 per day.
Can you please let us know how many sessions you might be interested in and on what dates. This will help us to plan sessions in detail.
Happy to announce that we intend to go ahead with President’s Day this year. It will take place on Sunday 29th August.

Our under 13 and under 15 sides were once again in league action this week, and both sides came out with victories.
Monday evening saw the under 15s gain a convincing win against Alberbury. Condover were asked to bat first and racked up 152-5 from their 20 overs. Tom D (26) and Finn (19) laid the foundations from the top of the order. Some tidy middle order runs from Will D (32 ret), Olly (18) and Lucas (16no) boosted the innings total.
The visitors were bowled out for 43 in the 19th over and this was down to some very decent spells of bowling from Condover. Olly and Will capped off good all round displays from them both with two wickets each. Rowan bowled well and claimed two for himself, not an easy feat as a spinner in t20 cricket! Lucas and Bryan also chipped in with one each. Well done guys!
On Wednesday night our under 13s faced Shelton in what was a clash of the unbeaten sides in the division. Condover chose to bowl first and started well as Aris made an early breakthrough. In the middle overs Rosie and Ollie T kept the runs down and also picked up two wickets each which were fully deserved. Will also claimed a wicket at the death as our visitors reached 92-6 off their 20 overs.
In response Olly held the innings together as he retired on 30. There were also some good contributions from Jake (13) and Ben (14) as we managed to chase down the target with 11 balls left. A great team effort with some much tighter bowling and a better performance in the field.

The 19th of June saw Condover 2nds host Cae Glas 2nds looking to get back to winning ways after defeat the previous week.
Condover won the toss and elected to field first and set about this task with a new opening bowling attack of Thomas Hughes & Anthony Smith. The two young quick bowlers took to their roles like veterans and kept the Cae Glas batsmen tied down and after their opening spell the opposition batsmen had reached 30 runs for the loss of no wickets.
The change of bowling brought instant results when Graeme Hughes removed the off stump which was last seen cartwheeling down the A49 towards Shrewsbury. After the breakthrough, wickets started to tumble at regular intervals with Thomas Hughes taking 1 wicket, Anthony Smith 2 wickets and Tom Farrow also taking 1 wicket.
With exceptional fielding by Brad Burnett-Thomas, Ben Brooks and senior cricket debutant Finn Lock the Cae Glas team finished on 7-145.
The Condover reply looked like it had got off to a shaky start when the sound of the ball hitting the bails echoed around the ground with young Tom Farrow on 0. Somehow the bails didn’t fall and Tom and his opening partner Andy Brooks then proceeded to knock off the runs with Tom Farrow hitting a 4 to win the game and in the process bringing up his maiden senior 50 not out and Andy finishing on 73 not out.
A fantastic result which was enjoyed by all especially the younger members of the team who all contributed in the result.
Our 1st XI continued their strong start to the season as we won on the road for the second successive week at Bishops Castle.
The home side decided to bat first as Jon Mansell made an early breakthrough. JC bowled a top class opening spell before pulling up at the end of his fifth over with what initially looks to be a season ending injury. We didn’t manage to find the sniper hiding in the trees! Castle put on a decent third wicket partnership as their number 3 batsman finished on 102 not out. Will Davis and Ben Jones both picked up a wicket each and Campbell Naylor claimed 2 wickets in his first Condover bowling effort in 7 years after time away from the club. The home side reached 208-6 from their 40 overs.
Our reply didn’t start too well as we lost some early wickets as Andy Mottram hit a quickfire 22. The key partnership came for the fifth wicket as Jon Mansell came out to bat at number 5 on one leg. It was very much a heroic stand and deliver effort from Jon as he put on a century partnership alongside captain Charlie Rogers. JC smashed a game changing 68 before being caught and bowled ending a destructive innings. Charlie hit his fourth half century in a row and was looking to guide us home before being caught on the boundary for 53. In came Tony Preston (16 not out) and Ben Jones (24 not out) who in their typical crash, bang, wallop styles saw us home with an over to spare.
Next week we are back at home as we face Calverhall.
There were two games for the club this week starting off with Tuesday’s Presidents Cup tie for our Midweek XI v Pontesbury. Condover were asked to bat first and after a slow start some big hitting in the last ten overs allowed us to reach 146-7. Charlie Rogers made 61 from the top of the order and Andy Mottram once again hit t20 runs as he scored 35.
In reply the away side’s batting was too strong with some Premier division and division one players in their lineup, which also included Shrewsbury Town’s goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne who bowled a very tidy opening spell. The visitors reached their target after 16 overs but not before Jake picked up his first senior wicket and his brother Ollie had bowled a tidy three overs.
Our under 13s came out on the right end of a result the following evening as they beat Alberbury at Pecknall Farm. Captain Paddy won the toss as Condover opted to bat first and piled on the runs. Both openers retired not out after forming a solid partnership, Jake scoring 30 and Oli P hitting 34. Will made his highest score of 24 and Freddie also chipped in with 22 as we finished on 164-5.
The home side’s response never truly got going despite their tremendous effort as Condovers attack bowled some tidy overs. Rosie, Ollie and Freddie picked up a wicket each as MJ claimed figures of 4-6 from his 3 overs. Jake then capped off a good all round performance as he claimed 3 wickets. Alberbury ended up being bowled out for 84 with an over of the game left.
This week saw our under 15s side play two games, one in the league and one in the cup.
Monday’s fixture was a trip to Newtown and possibly one to forget with the bat as our side were all out for 87 after 19.1 overs. Jake’s 25 from 38 balls the main contribution. Newtown chased down their target after 15 overs for the loss of 3 wickets, Lucas and Ollie taking one each and Jake with a run out.
On Friday night it was another trip away this time to a strong Oswestry side in the semi-final of the cup. The home sides’ top four all made decent contributions as they posted a big score of 186-3. In reply, Condover put in a great effort and scored 119-3 which is more often than not a winning score in age group cricket. Jake carried on his run of form scoring 21, his brother Ollie hit 19 not out and captain Finn also continued his run scoring efforts with 33 not out.
Despite the results once again the squad can be proud of their efforts in training and matches, they are very much a team that plays with great spirit and a lot of fight.
Condover’s evening league side continued their 100% winning start to the season by beating Acton Reynald.
The visitors batted first and scored 156-5 from their 20 overs, amongst the wickets were Will Davis, Andy Mottram and Charlie Rogers, Motty and Charlie taking two each.
Condovers reply was mainly built around the 2nd wicket partnership between Sam Rogers and Charlie. Sam who’s been put up the order to open in midweek action justified his promotion as he hit some destructive blows and scored 44. 1st XI captain Charlie supported him in scoring 63 as Louis Irvine finished off the innings with 30 not out in his first game of the season.
Next we are at home again as we face Pontesbury.
Saturday 12th June saw Condover 2nds host Corvedale CC in a Division 7 of the Shropshire cricket league game.
On a high from their victory the previous week the Condover team assembled on a glorious sunny day knowing that the challenge ahead of them was great however with a sense of optimism that if they fielded and bowled as well as they had previously they could beat the more experienced Corvedale team.
After winning the toss the Condover captain made the calculated risk to bowl first and the early bowling by Thomas Hughes and Anthony Smith was tight against two strong and stylish opening batsmen. Matt Brooks continued his fine bowling until an injury brought his spell to a holt.
Leon Kosciuczyk was thrown the ball and the wily slow bowler didn’t take long get the first wicket which was later followed up with wickets by Richard Gilbert, Graeme Hughes and Anthony Smith.
Special mention needs to go to Jon Mansell Snr who had the unenviable task of keeping wickets to a number of new bowlers he had not played with before and with only 1 bye conceded in 40 overs was a class performance.
Corvedale finished their innings with 3-231
The Condover reply started steady with Boom Boom Gilbert joining Andrew Brooks at the crease after the fall of an early wicket. Mr Gilbert tried to replicate his stand and deliver style of the previous week however with quality swing bowling by the Corvedale opening bowlers he was soon back in the hutch.
Graeme Hughes joined Andrew Brooks and tried to steady ship whilst continuing to keep the run rate high. Wickets started to fall at regular intervals and once Hughes was bowled for 69 the reply soon came to end with Condover all out for 168.
Although the Condover team were outplayed today every player who turned out can hold their heads high as they put in 100% and never gave up. There were many signs of a great team developing and things are looking bright for stronger performances in future games.
