After last week’s defeat to Quatt, we looked to bounce back at home against a Broseley side who we most recently faced during our 2019 promotion season.
Things however did not go to plan, as we decided to bat first the visitors opening bowlers tore through our batting line up. Jon Mansell jnr and Jordan Barker joint top scored with 14 runs each as we were bowled out for just 85 inside 24 overs. Not exactly how we envisaged the innings going!
Broseley started well and looked like they would chase down their low target, with former Shropshire batsman Nick Archibald at the crease. However, our bowling attack put in a fantastic effort, with Jon Mansell bowling a great spell but only for the reward of one wicket. Robbie Barker then took 3-19 as we had Broseley reeling at 47-6. Andy Mottram and Ben Jones were then brought on to try and pick up the remaining wickets. Motty took 1-9 from his 4 overs and Ben Jones bowled a sensational spell taking 4 wickets for just 4 runs! Somehow snatching victory from the jaws of defeat, Broseley were bowled out for 60 as we won by 25 runs.
A very strange game of cricket but what an effort in the field and with the ball by the lads. Next week we make the trip to Acton Reynald.
